Travis Barker has paid his respects to his three best pals on the anniversary of the plane crash which almost took his life.
In 2008, the Blink-182 drummer and friends Chris Baker, Charles "Che" Still, and Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein were involved in a devastating crash. Only Travis, 46, and DJ AM survived the incident, but Adam died by suicide a year later after he struggled to cope in the aftermath.
On Monday, the rocker took to Instagram to pay a heartfelt tribute to the trio by sharing several snaps to his Instagram Story. In the first image, Travis posted a sombre piece of artwork, which read: "Rest in Peace Lil Chris, Che DJ-AM. Never Forgotten."
The words were inked around a pair of praying hands over a white cross on a black background. There were also two black roses shielding the statement. He followed up the image by posting pis of his pals before ending on a shot of him, Chris and Adam sharing a laugh.
The tragedy 14 years ago happened as the group travelled from South Carolina to California. Their plane crashed during take off after a loss of pressure. The tyres of the plane blew as it took off and while aborting the lift-off, the plane veered off the end of the runway and smashed through a fence before bursting into flames.
The horror crash left Travis with burns on over 65% of his body after he was covered in fuel that ignited. After sliding down the wing in a bid to make his escape, Travis had to stop and roll in to try to put out the blaze. He almost lost his foot from the resulting burns.
Speaking to Joe Rogan in 2019, the musician explained the hell that took place on that tragic day. He said: "When I jumped through the emergency exit when the plane blew up, I was in such a hurry to exit the plane I jumped right into the jet, which is full of fuel.
"My whole body lit up. I had jet fuel in my whole body. I burped jet fuel for almost three months. When I jumped into the jets … I started running … I was ripping off my clothes because that's what my instinct told me to do … but little did I know I was still on fire because I was soaked in jet fuel."
He explained how some guy urged him to "Stop, drop and roll" as he panicked and ran towards a highway. The incident left Travis in hospital for four months, during which time he said he was "being fed morphine everyday."
It's only been since meeting his wife Kourtney Kardashian that Travis has put the fear of flying behind him. Since taking to the skies again, Travis has regularly visited luxurious destinations, including Italy, where he and Kourtney tied the knot in May.
