Travel chaos at Glasgow Central Station as trains delayed or cancelled

Morning commuters should be prepared for mayhem at Glasgow Central Station after multiple services have been disrupted following a signalling fault.

A number of services have been delayed, revised or cancelled with alternative routes and replacement buses organised for travellers.

The fault is causing disruption to services between Glasgow Central and the following stations:

  • East Kilbride
  • Barrhead
  • Kilmarnock
  • Carlisle via Dumfries
  • Girvan/Stranraer via Kilmarnock
  • Newton
  • Neilston

A ScotRail spokesperson wrote on social media: "This is impacting a variety of services to/from Glasgow Central. We will publish all information on this thread, you can also use our app or JourneyCheck to keep an eye on your trip."

It's reported that the disruption is expected to last until around 10am. Customers have been advised to make alternative travel arrangements while the fault is being worked on.
