"Aftermath", a poetic study of the harrowing effects of a terror attack in the UK, sees author and professor Preti Taneja reflect on the systemic and structural fractures that allowed a recently-released offender to murder two young people at a conference near London Bridge in November 2019. She joins us in the studio to discuss the role of literature in processing and understanding grief, and the power of community acts of solidarity and creativity in the face of a hostile government. We also talk about the institutional racism that affects not only the criminal justice system but also reading lists, highlighting the initiatives that are using art to build bridges.
