A trapped driver was cut of a car by firefighters after a two-vehicle crash in Sunderland.
Emergency services were called to Ryhope Road in the Hendon area on Tuesday afternoon after a crash involving a car and a "wagon". Fire crews were on the scene within five minutes and removed a driver from the vehicle. It is understood no injuries were sustained in the incident.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 2.25pm yesterday (Tuesday) police received a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a wagon on Ryhope Road in Hendon, Sunderland. Emergency services attended the scene where thankfully no serious injuries were reported. The road was cleared shortly after 3pm.”
The crash happened near to the Villette Road junction, a short distance from the former Sunderland synagogue, with crews from two stations attending. Firefighters left the scene shortly before 3pm.
A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Yesterday just before 2pm our fire control received a call about a road traffic collision on Ryhope Road in Sunderland. Crews from Farringdon and South Shields Community Fire Stations were on scene in just five minutes to begin rescuing a trapped driver of one the vehicles.
They added: "Our crews safely removed the driver from their car and left them in the care of ambulance staff. Our crews left the scene at 2:45pm."
No further details regarding the crash have been released.
