Tens of thousands gather as Pope Francis lies in state at St Peter's Basilica

The body of Pope Francis has been moved to St Peter's Basilica so that the faithful, gathering in tens of thousands, can pay their final respects ahead of his funeral on Saturday.

The late pontiff, who died on Monday at the age of 88 from a stroke and heart failure, was transferred from the chapel of his residence in the Casa Santa Marta guesthouse on Wednesday morning.
