The British transfer record was broken twice by the same club, as Liverpool signed Florian Wirtz for £116million and followed it up with Alexander Isak for £125m on Deadline Day as they spent close to half a billion pounds. Arsenal, though, had the biggest outlay as Mikel Arteta was once again heavily backed in the form of eight new signings including Piero Hincapie.
