Rangers are pursuing options on the final day of the Scottish Premiership transfer window as they close in on the signing of striker Kevin Kelsy.
Manager Derek McInnes confirmed on Wednesday night that the club was very close to sealing a deal for Portland Timbers’ 22-year-old Venezuelan forward Kelsy, while there might be another deal done.
Rangers earlier rebuffed a loan bid from Besiktas for Nico Raskin and allowed Thelo Aasgaard to move to Anderlecht on loan, with the Belgians paying a fee and having the option to buy the Norwegian midfielder.
Rangers have since been linked with moves for Stuttgart and Algeria winger Badredine Bouanani and PSV Eindhoven and Bosnia wide player Esmir Bajraktarevic.
The Premiership window closes at 5pm on Thursday, but Celtic raced to beat the UEFA registration deadline of 11pm on Wednesday night with six signings in little over 24 hours.
Dutch midfielder Joel van den Berg signed from PSV and Swiss right-back Jordan Lotomba from Feyenoord just before the deadline.
