Train strikes and other industrial action are set to continue this month after a number of walk-outs took place in June and July.
The events come as part of bitter rows between staff and employers, over pay, redundancies and working conditions. A national train strike caused travel chaos across the country on Wednesday, with many services cancelled or severely disrupted.
A further strike took place on Saturday (July 30) at eight train operators by members of the drivers’ union Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) and the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA). Though train operators in the North West were largely unaffected, those catching connecting trains may have had travel plans disrupted.
