Kieran Trippier has sung the praises of Newcastle United after they dug in and booked their place in the third round of the League Cup.
The England star came off the bench to set up two goals at Prenton Park as Newcastle beat the Leavue Two side Tranmere in their own backyard.
Speaking after the tie, Trippier said: “We played fantastically against Manchester City but it was a different challenge tonight. Coming to places like this is always difficult.

"We work hard every day in training on set-pieces and attacking them. Chris Wood deserves that goal. He works so hard in training every day.
"It would mean everything [to have a cup run] but we have come so far in a short period of time. We need to be patient, take it a step at a time and keep building as a team."
