On Saturday, a devastating incident occurred on Georgia's Sapelo Island, resulting in the loss of at least seven lives. The tragedy unfolded when part of a ferry dock collapsed, leading to a chaotic and heartbreaking scene.
According to a spokesperson for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the incident took place during a gathering on the island to celebrate the vibrant Gullah-Geechee community, comprised of Black descendants of former slaves.
