A woman has died after she was hit by her own car which crashed down an embankment, police have revealed. Emergency services raced to the scene, but she was pronounced dead.
No age for the woman has been revealed and she hasn't been named. But police said specially trained officers were supporting her grieving family.
It's understood the incident happened close to a new housing estate. Police and ambulance crews were called to Valehouse Way in Tintwistle, High Peak, just outside Hadfield in Derbyshire, just after 8am on Tuesday morning.
Police in Derbyshire yesterday reported emergency services attending 'reports of a serious collision' at the scene and said the road would be closed 'for some time'. The tragic update was provided on Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Constabulary said the woman was 'in collision' with a car, believed to be her own vehicle, which went down an embankment. No further details have been revealed by the force.
In a statement, Derbyshire Constabulary said: "A woman sadly died following an incident in Tintwistle. The woman was in collision with a car, thought to be her own vehicle. The car went down an embankment and the woman died at the scene.
"Emergency services were called to the incident, on Valehouse Way, just after 8.10am on Tuesday, March 22. Specially trained officers are supporting the woman's family at this time." No further details have been revealed.
