A man has died following a fall from a multi-storey car park at a shopping centre in Newcastle.
Emergency crews were at the scene shortly after 12pm today (October 19) after reports that a man had fallen from the Eldon Square multi-storey car park on Percy Street in the city centre.
Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the force have confirmed.
Enquiries into the man's death are now ongoing. However, police do not believe there to have been any third-party involvement.
There was a temporary disruption to vehicles entering the car park whilst the incident was being dealt with by personnel from Northumbria Police and North East Ambulance Service (NEAS).
A representative from Newcastle City Council, the operators of Eldon Square multi-storey car park, has since confirmed that the car park is now open as normal.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 12pm, today (Wednesday), we received a report a man had fallen from a multi-storey car park on Percy Street, Newcastle.
“Emergency services are currently in attendance but the man has sadly been pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing however at this early stage, we do not believe there to be any third party involvement.”
A NEAS spokesperson added: "We received a call at 12pm this afternoon to reports of an incident outside of Eldon Square, Newcastle.
"We dispatched one ambulance crew, one specialist paramedic, one rapid response paramedic, and one clinical team leader."
