NEW DELHI: The track relaying work at Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) stadium will be completed within three months following the submission of a report by IIT Guwahati, which has been tasked to identify reasons for sinking of the ground over an underground tunnel near the 400m track, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) said in a statement.
A report on Tuesday claimed that the stadium lay unused to host any major track and field events for almost four years as the ground sank after a botched-up track relaying project. According to the report, the SAI had earmarked Rs 6.50 crore for the project handled by a public sector enterprise – Water and Power Consultancy Services India Limited (WAPCOS), which was supposed to hand over the stadium by 2021.
