TOWIE's Yazmin shares hospital bed video and admits she was 'lowest ever' after crash

Yazmin Oukhellou shared footage from her time spent in hospital for World Mental Health Day on Monday [October 10].

The TOWIE star says she's had some 'really awful days' since she was in the car crash that killed on-off boyfriend Jake McLean in Turkey earlier this year, but wants to share more on her 'worst days' in a bid to be more 'real' on social media rather than trying to put a brave face on.

The reality TV star - who recently shared snippets of her holiday with fans - also admits she experienced days where she didn't think she'd ever 'feel normal again' after the tragic car crash, but now has therapy once a week with 'an amazing lady called Sandra' who has changed her life.

Yazmin arrived back in the UK shortly after the tragic accident in July this year, being discharged from hospital after undergoing surgery due to her arm being seriously injured, but was not present at Jake's funeral in August, amid rumours the late businessman's family had banned his on-off girlfriend from the farewell.

The star - who was forced to break her own arm in order to escape the wreckage and survive - took to Instagram on Monday to post a video filmed by her mother of herself crying in her hospital bed, with Ariana Grande's hit song Breathin' acting as a soundtrack to the post shared with her 740,000 followers.

Jake, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene when their Mercedes car overturned after plunging 30ft into a ditch in the holiday resort of Bodrum at 4.30am in the morning on Sunday July 3. Yazmin was sleeping at the time the car veered off the cliff - something doctors say could have possibly saved her life.

"Last week my mum shared this video with me which she sent to my dad during my time in hospital as she updated him daily. I was unaware it was being taken at the time but am glad I have this to see just how far I’ve come," the star begins in her moving caption.

"This was me at the lowest I’ve ever been in my life. Mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. I’m sharing this today not only for World Mental Health Day but to also show you that with the right help and support you can and will get through anything."

The reality TV star goes on to reveal one thing she has struggled with since the accident is people saying they feel bad sharing their problems with her as they may feel silly in comparison - stating all problems, big or small, are important and encouraging her fans to talk more about their mental health.

"Since the accident I have some really awful days but I try to put a brave face on and post something positive. On my worst days you simply won’t hear from me at all," Yazmin continues.

"But World Mental Health Day has got me thinking that maybe I should be more real on here and share those times too which is why I have shared this today.

"I had days where I didn’t think I’d ever feel normal again. We all struggle at some point in our lives and we can all help each other a little more. Let’s be a bit kinder. So today I want you to take a few minutes and think about YOU and your mental health. Ask yourself am I okay? Really? If the answer is no or if there’s even a slight hesitance I’d encourage you to speak to someone (a medical professional, family, friend or helpline). MIND: 0300 123 3393."

Yamzin concludes her emotional post telling her online fans how weekly therapy have truly changed her life, adding: "I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and you all should be too. If your [sic] going through something awful right now just know you are loved and it won’t last forever."

Fans and famous friends rushed to comment on the star's candid update, with pregnant star Bianca Gascoigne leaving a string of supportive emojis underneath Yazmin's post and fellow TOWIE star Ella Rae Wise writing: "You’ve got this x."

Earlier this month, during a sun-soaked holiday, Yazmin reflected on her recovery as she shared a poignant quote with her fans which reads: Your wounds will heal because that's what wounds are meant to do. Your cuts and scrapes may leave behind scars, reminding you of that fall or break but they will heal and you will be stronger than you were before.

"It's the same for heartbreaks and disappointments and failures. They might sting now, they might make you sick to your stomach. They might bring you to your knees right now, but soon you will be heal. And soon you will stronger than you ever were before."

The star has previously said the crash will be 'very, very difficult' to process (INSTAGRAM)

The TV star and Jake are believed to have first become a couple in May last year, with Yazmin confirming their relationship on Instagram the following December before splitting shortly after.

Speaking with The Sun, Yazmin explained how the pair were "off" when she visited Turkey but had planned to reconcile and described Jake as "only person I have ever felt a love like that for", as she admitted the ordeal will be a "very, very difficult" thing for her to process.

"This will stay with me for life. But for me, I loved him so hard and that’s why I travelled across the world to be with him," she told the publication shortly after returning home in July.
