The Tower of London is going to be completely changed with 20 million flowers to pay tribute to the Queen for her Platinum Jubilee.

Her Majesty, 95, will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to everyone in the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

Historic Royal Palaces have unveiled their amazing plan to show appreciation for the Queen.

They will bring colour to the moat with flowers planned to last from late spring to late summer, they will then fade in autumn and return in spring next year.

Urban horticulture experts at Sheffield University have cherry picked 29 different species in a variety of colours to come alive at different times in the season in a project called Superbloom.

Tom O’Leary, HRP’s director of public engagement, told MailOnline: “We’re aiming to plant by the end of March and then boom! It all comes into flower in time for the Jubilee weekend in June.

“But unlike most displays, this one will keep changing over the summer months. It’s pushing the boundaries.”

The flowers have been coordinated to start blooming in whites and pinks in June when celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee are underway.

In July, it will be a flood of flowers in blues and purples.

Gold, yellow and orange will take over the sprawling area in August.

The last time flowers were planted at the Tower of London it was a sensation overnight.

At the time, 888,246 ceramic poppies were installed to commemorate the centenary of the World War I outbreak in 2014.
