Chelsea's transfer hunt for a new midfielder in January is expected to continue in the final 10 days of the current transfer window. Todd Boehly has been a busy man throughout the opening month of 2023, with five new signings completed to bolster Graham Potter's squad.
Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk have been the two stand-out additions secured, with Noni Madueke's move from PSV Eindhoven in advanced stages. Young talents Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana have also arrived, pointing to Boehly's long-term transfer policy in west London.
However, despite the mass spending to improve the options in the final third, the midfield area of Potter's squad remains a key priority. The Blues are said to be in the market for a midfielder amid increasingly uncertain futures of N'Golo Kante and Jorginho - who both see their contracts expire in the summer.

Brighton's Moises Caicedo has long been the source of interest from Chelsea due to his relationship with former Seagulls boss Potter. It was reported on Thursday that a £55million bid for the Ecuador international was rejected, with The Athletic insisting the AMEX Stadium outfit have no intentions of selling Caicedo this month.
Now, according to The Telegraph, Chelsea have made an inquiry for Tottenham's Yves Bissouma. Despite only joining the north Londoners in the summer, the Mali international in another former Seagulls player who has been linked with a reunion with Potter at SW6.
However, the report claims Tottenham do not want to sell Bissouma this month and have not entertained Chelsea's offer for the 26-year-old, which would include Hakim Ziyech moving to Spurs. After improving matters in the final third, Boehly's focus for the remaining week of the window looks set to be in midfield.
Bissouma is one of various players that saw their value sky-rocket under Potter at Brighton. Last season, the midfielder's performances warranted plenty of praise before he moved to Tottenham. "His high-end actions are Champions League level," Potter said in April.
The midfielder has struggled to nail down a place within Antonio Conte's side this season, starting only eight Premier league games all season. However, he may have to continue to work in north London for the rest of the campaign unless Spurs budge on their stance.
