Nearly three weeks after a mass border crossing brought tens of thousands of migrants into Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta, thousands remain stranded in precarious conditions, Maria Jimenez, spokesperson for the NGO Elin, told RFI. She said many still lack adequate shelter, food and medical care.

At the end of July, between 70,000 and 80,000 people crossed into the enclave from neighbouring Morocco. Most have since left, but Jimenez said thousands remain in Ceuta, including large numbers of children.
