Tottenham XI vs Aston Villa: No Kulusevski - Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest today

Dejan Kulusevski is absent for Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa today.

The winger has a reported minor muscle injury and joins Rodrigo Bentancur in missing out, the Uruguay midfielder returned from the World Cup with a thigh injury but Spurs boss Antonio Conte admitted the problem is worse than first thought.

Cristian Romero returns in defence for the New Year’s Day clash with Villa, after his World Cup exploits in lifting the trophy with Argentina. Eric Dier is on the bench.

“Romero is back, yeah, he’s back and he’s available for the Aston Villa game,” said Conte.

“But Rodrigo and I think we have to wait, maybe today, he’s going to have an MRI to try to have an evaluation about his injury. But for sure against Aston Villa he’s not available.

“He had an injury during the World Cup, and then also the timing is longer than my expectation.”
