Tottenham vs Manchester United simulated to predict Premier League clash

Tottenham will be desperate for three points to keep their Premier League top-four hopes alive tonight when they take on Manchester United.

Following Spurs' dismal 6-1 defeat at Newcastle that saw the Lilywhites ship five goals in the opening 21 minutes, interim manager Christian Stellini was sacked, with Ryan Mason now in charge. It was a second-consecutive loss for Spurs who have just one win in their last five games, with the top-four spots slipping away as the end of the season nears.

Spurs currently sit in seventh place, and a loss against United would see Ten Hag's side move nine points ahead of Spurs with two games in hand. The reverse fixture ended in a 2-0 win for United, with the Lilywhites without a win against United in their last four meetings.

So, could Spurs get back to winning ways when they face United tonight? Let's take a look.

Spurs v Manchester United score predicted by simulation

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Spurs could line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Forster; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Porro, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Davies; Son, Richarlison; Kane.

We predict that United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia; Casemiro, Fred, Fernandes; Antony, Martial, Rashford.

It was a much-improved display from Spurs in the first half, with both sides creating many chances, but neither were able to find the breakthrough. Spurs' high press at the beginning of the second half was working in their favour, and just four minutes after the restart, the hosts went ahead.

United's predicted XI vs Spurs (EA SPORTS)

As United tried to play out of the back, the Spurs press forced Harry Maguire into an error, with his rushed pass intercepted by Oliver Skipp. A quick pass over the United defence saw Harry Kane surge through on goal, and one-on-one, the Englishman found the net.

After taking the lead, Spurs sat off United which saw the visitors create a lot more chances. Fraser Forster was on top form to make some incredible saves, but the 'keeper couldn't keep United out in the 89th minute as they grabbed a last-gasp equaliser.

Wout Weghorst made it 1-1 late on (EA SPORTS)

After making a tremendous save in the 88th minute to deny Wout Weghorst, Forster was finally beaten from the resulting corner. The striker met Bruno Fernandes' cross at the near post, and his bullet header flew past the 'keeper to make it 1-1.
