Tottenham have hit form at just the right time. Sunday’s 5-1 win over Newcastle was their third victory in a row and saw them leapfrog Arsenal into fourth spot. Antonio Conte’s side will fancy their chances of securing Champions League football with a favourable fixture list and with the Gunners to play on home turf.
If Spurs do go on to clinch fourth spot it will strengthen their hand considerably when it comes to signing new players in the summer. Conte has done a superb job so far but will be keen to push on as he targets success both domestically and on the European stage next season.
The Italian already has the nucleus of a strong side but will want to strengthen in a few key areas, with central midfield thought to be a position he is keen to add more talent and depth to. There’s also the perennial issue of signing another striker which has been a problem in the past given the form and status of Harry Kane, nonetheless three big targets have been linked with the Lilywhites today.

Spurs ‘interested’ in Laimer
Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig star Konrad Laimer this summer. However, they face competition from Manchester United for the 24-year-old’s signature.
Spurs and Man United are expected to overhaul their playing squads in the post-season and according to German outlet Bild, both clubs have identified the RB Leipzig star as a target. Laimer is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also operate in a more advanced role.
It is believed Laimer impressed the hierarchy at Tottenham with his performances in Leipzig’s 4-0 aggregate win over Spurs in the last-16 of the Champions League in 2020. And the north London club are keen to strengthen their squad as they look to carry on the progress they’ve made under Conte this season.
Laimer has just one year remaining on his contract at the Red Bull Arena and is set to commence talks with Leipzig at the end of the season.
Svanberg on radar
Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg is reportedly attracting interest from Tottenham, the 23-year-old's contract with the Serie A club expires next summer.
According to Record, Everton and West Ham are also interested in the Sweden star, with Bologna expected to sell in order to prevent him leaving on a free transfer next summer. However, as per iNews, Spurs are favourites to land Svanberg’s signature.
Conte and Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici are well aware of the player from their time in Italian football, and have reportedly made enquiries regarding his future at Bologna. Svanberg is a central midfielder and would add more depth and competition to Spurs’ engine room.
He has scored three goals and registered two assists this season and would reportedly cost around €15 million (£12.5m)
Spurs watching Nunez
Spurs were reportedly one of a number of clubs scouting Darwin Nunez’s performance during Benfica’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday.
However, according to Portuguese outlet Record, the player’s desire to play in European football’s elite club competition has put Spurs in pole position for his signature, given that they’re currently sitting fourth in the Premier League.
But nothing has been decided yet with the race for fourth spot far from over. It’s believed Benfica will demand around £60 million for Nunez and it remains to be seen if the Lilywhites will be prepared to part with such a vast amount.
The 23-year-old has scored 28 goals in 35 appearances this season, and his remarkable form has seen him linked with a host of clubs across Europe.
