Tottenham have sacked interim manager Cristian Stellini before the Premier League showdown vs Liverpool after pressure on him increased after a jaw-dropping defeat against Newcastle.
Stellini was only appointed to the top job in north London last month after Antonio Conte was sacked after Tottenham were eliminated from the Champions League and FA Cup in quick succession. But despite a bright start in his temporary position, the chaos has ultimately continued.
Under his stewardship, Tottenham defeated surprise package Brighton and drew with relegation-threatened Everton in what was Stellini's first game. However, support for the Italian and his credentials in the Tottenham dugout rapidly decreased after back-to-back reverses to Bournemouth and high-flying Newcastle.

As things stand, Tottenham are still placed fifth in their ongoing charge for Champions League qualification. But having played more games than the two sides currently above them, Newcastle and Manchester United, the board have decided to take immediate action.
Tottenham have a potentially decisive few days ahead. Indeed, they play United at home on Thursday night (7.45pm) and that match is followed up by a meeting with Liverpool on Sunday, April 30 at their Anfield base (4.30pm). Liverpool have, by contrast, won their last two games.
Stellini, who assisted Conte throughout his time at the helm, took charge in four games after stepping up to the top job, picking up four points in total. Tottenham were humbled 6-1 by Newcastle on Sunday afternoon, conceding five goals inside 21 minutes.
That prompted Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to take action for the second time in a month. It is thought Ryan Mason - the club's former midfielder - will take take charge for the remainder of this season.
