Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has recounted the terrifying "lesson" that he was taught after being robbed at gunpoint while on holiday in his homeland.
The right-back was involved in a scary incident during the off-season that saw him approached by an armed individual outside of a nightclub, with an off-duty policeman then intervening. Fortunately, both men escaped unharmed despite a number of shots being fired - the robber himself now being under police supervision at hospital.
Emerson has praised the actions of the officer - labelling him as an angel for intervening having previously taken a photograph with the defender. Tottenham have reached out with their support following the incident now he has spoken more at length, describing his feelings and emotions, as well as the actions he took to ensure that he avoided serious harm.
