Tottenham are close to reaching an agreement with Middlesbrough over the transfer of full-back Djed Spence, football.london understands. The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to north London this summer, but an agreement was yet to be reached.
The England youth international spent the past season with Nottingham Forest on loan from Boro, where he continually impressed. Spence made 42 Championship appearances and played every game in a playoff campaign that saw Forest promoted to the Premier League at the expense of Huddersfield Town.
Plenty of sides were linked with a move after he looked comfortable in FA Cup matches against the likes of Arsenal and Leicester City. The Gunners were one of those teams rumoured to be of interest, along with Spurs and Bayern Munich.
