Tottenham news: Dejan Kulusevski transfer details emerge as UEFA make major FFP decision

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Wednesday, March 23.

Dejan Kulusevski transfer details emerge

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have the option to make Dejan Kulusevski’s move from Juventus permanent earlier than first planned. The Swedish midfielder moved to north London on a loan deal in the January transfer window and is set to stay until the summer of 2023.

It was originally reported that Spurs had negotiated the option of a mandatory €35m (£29m) permanent transfer once that original deal had expired but only if a number of certain conditions had been met, including Champions League qualification and a certain number of appearances. Now, it appears that the club could secure his services a lot earlier.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that there is a €30m (£25m) option to buy this summer. It of course remains to be seen if Fabio Paratici activates that clause but Kulusevski has turned in a series of impressive performances since his arrival having scored twice and provided four assists. UEFA make Financial Fair Play decision

Whilst Spurs might be considering how making a permanent move for Kulusevski would work financially, they might have slightly more freedom, with UEFA reportedly set to make a major decision over their Financial Fair Play rules.

According to The New York Times, the reworking of the financial control guidelines will not include a salary cap but UEFA could be set to enforce more sanctions on clubs who breach the rules. That could include anything from points deductions to relegation from the Champions League. Find out what impacts that could have on Spurs here.

Son makes Champions League admission

Spurs forward Son Heung-Min has admitted that if his teammates stay focused over the closing months of the season, they could seal a return to the Champions League. Antonio Conte ’s men are currently embroiled in the battle for the top four and the forward is optimistic about their chances.

Speaking with the club’s matchday programme, he said: "Of course, we want to finish in the top four and play in the Champions League next season, but we have to look at this game-by-game.

"If we play our game, in our system with belief and passion, I think that could change everything because, if you focus on anything else, you are going to lose our system and style, and we don't want that. That will be the most important thing for us in the last two months of the season." Read the full interview here.
