Harry Redknapp 'certain' over Harry Kane Tottenham transfer decision amid Real Madrid interest
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp expects Harry Kane to remain in north London next season. One of the biggest transfer sagas could be set to unfold as the Spurs talisman is yet to publicly decide his future.
An underwhelming 2022/23 campaign resulted in Tottenham failing to qualify for Europe - leading some to suggest Kane’s time could be up. Just one year on his contract means Daniel Levy is under pressure to resolve the England captain’s future.
At 29, there will be few opportunities in the future to cash in on Kane and he could even lose his star asset for nothing next year. Kane appears a natural fit for Los Blancos but ex-manager Redknapp, in charge of Spurs when the 29-year-old was an academy player, believes there will only be one outcome.
"I think he’s a cert to stay," Redknapp told Sky Sports. "That’s my opinion. I don’t see him going. Man City are not there anymore, they have Haaland. Where is he going to go that is better than Tottenham? It’s not easy. He’s not going to go to Arsenal, he’s not going to go to Chelsea.
"Manchester United, is obviously a great club, but so are Tottenham. What a stadium - maybe the best football stadium in the world. Great training facilities… I think he’s sure to stay and he’ll be looking for them to bring a few players in. If they do that, they could be bang in there next year."

Daniel Levy sends Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte jibe in Tottenham transfer message
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy appears to have aimed a subtle dig at former managers Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte in the first meeting with Spurs' new Fan Advisory Board (FAB). Alongside the main aim of the initiative, which is to improve fan engagement and thus allow representatives from the widest sections of the fanbase to have their say, ongoing situations at the club will also be discussed.
Given the recent appointment of Ange Postecoglou and the summer transfer window on the verge of opening, those two topics were also discussed. In the conference call, Levy made his thoughts surrounding the recent transfer decisions made by the club with a slight jibe at Mourinho and Conte.
"The notion that Tottenham haven’t backed certain managers is incorrect," he was quoted as saying by the club. "We're currently paying the price, perhaps, where some of the acquisitions have not turned out to be as we hoped."
Conte and Mourinho were each handed over £100million to spend on new signings across their respective spells at the club, but no marquee signing made in the last few years is yet to fully take off.
The £25m James Maddison transfer alternative who can wow in Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham vision
Tottenham's failure to qualify for Europe could potentially be a major stumbling block if they attempt to lure James Maddison from Leicester City this summer. In the mix for a Champions League finish for the vast majority of the 2022/23 campaign, Spurs' dismal form towards the end of the season saw other teams profit and the Lilywhites drop out of the European places altogether.
Now with Maddison a certainty to depart the King Power Stadium due to his contract status and the Foxes' relegation to the Championship, the England international will undoubtedly be looking to feature in Europe on a regular basis. That could well give Newcastle United and Arsenal, who have both been linked with the attacking midfielder, a huge advantage over Tottenham, especially as both can offer the 26-year-old Champions League football.
If Tottenham are not successful in a move for Maddison, Ange Postecoglou and the club's new managing director of football will have to look elsewhere. In terms of an alternative for the ex-Norwich City ace, Bristol City's Alex Scott has an incredibly bright future in the game and he would potentially cost half the price of Maddison.
Excelling in the Championship for the Robins, the 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who is a Tottenham fan, looks destined for a switch to the top flight sooner rather than later, with clubs such as Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford, Liverpool, Newcastle, Wolves and West Ham linked with the exciting player this summer. Bristol City are going to lose their prized asset but boss Nigel Pearson has indicated that interested parties will have to fork out more than £25million to sign the Guernsey-born ace.
