Tottenham issue emphatic response to Bayern Munich's Harry Kane transfer move

Tottenham have insisted they will not sell Harry Kane this summer - despite interest from Bayern Munich.

The German giants are circling and want the England captain as their prime target this summer and are ready to chase him in the transfer window.

Kane, who turns 30 next month, has one year left on his contract and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has made it very plain he will not sell to Manchester United.

Now Bayern are keen but Spurs insist they have yet to receive a formal bid from the German champions - but would reject it out of hand even if one came in.

What is certain is that Bayern are ready to test the market and are not the only foreign club interested with Paris Saint Germain also keen as they look for potential replacements if Kylian Mbappe leaves this summer.

PSG made enquiries around Kane and were told he did not want to move abroad and that may also be the case for Bayern.

Bayern are likely to have made representations to see whether Kane would be open to a move as they prepare a £65m-plus move for Tottenham ’s record goalscorer.

However, Tottenham do not want to sell this summer, they are ready to hold their nerve and allow Kane to run his contract into the final year in the hope of persuading him to sign on again.

They brought in Ange Postecoglou as manager and believe the Aussie can turn the club’s fortunes around and, in doing so, convince Kane to stay.

There is also a belief that Kane wants to stay in the Premier League to chase down Alan Shearer’s goals record.

Shearer is still the leading scorer in Premier League history with 260 goals and Kane has 213 and wants to chase down the landmark which is a key reason why he will not move abroad.

But Bayern hope the vision of trophies and Champions League football may turn his head.
