Tottenham have £30m transfer clause in place to scupper Man Utd and Arsenal move

Tottenham could trump Arsenal and Manchester United in the race for Kyle Walker-Peters - as the Londoners have a £30million buyback clause for the sought-after full-back.

Walker-Peters is attracting interest from other Premier League sides after his sterling performances for Southampton last term. The 25-year-old has established himself as the Saints' first-choice full-back over the past couple of years and has even won full England honours since making the switch to the South Coast.

However, a new report from The Athletic has claimed that Southampton could decide to cash in on the Londoner, with Arsenal and United both keeping tabs on the right-back. But Spurs would have the upper hand on their rivals if a race for Walker-Peters does materialise due to a clause they inserted in the £12m deal that took their former academy graduate to St Marys' back in 2020.

Although Walker-Peters is under contract at Southampton until the summer of 2025, there has been 'no progress' on a fresh deal for the full-back - and the Saints are now mulling over their options.

While Ralph Hassenhuttl's side are not 'actively seeking' to sell Walker-Peters, they could decide to cash in later this summer depending on how their own transfer activity progresses over the coming weeks.

Southampton may try to sign another full-back to compete with Walker-Peters as Tino Livramento is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. However, Walker-Peters could quickly become the odd man out once the former Chelsea youngster is back to full fitness after his stunning maiden season last term.

Although Tottenham have the scope to beat Arsenal and Manchester United to a deal for Walker-Peters, it remains to be seen if Antonio Conte would have any interest in bringing the Saints star back to north London.

Walker-Peters was a peripheral figure for the majority of his senior career at Tottenham after progressing through the youth ranks at the club, making just 24 senior appearances. Spurs are also seemingly edging closer to a deal for Middlesbrough wing-back Djed Spence; one of Conte's top summer targets.

The Mirror revealed earlier this week that Everton are another side who are currently mulling over a move for Walker-Peters, who can also operate as a left-back.

Toffees boss Frank Lampard is desperate to strengthen a side that narrowly avoided relegation last term, but the Merseyside outfit need the green light from the Premier League before they can spend this summer. The league have been in long-term negotiations with the club over profit and sustainability rules.
