Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a huge transfer boost after Stuttgart have reached an agreement with Borna Sosa to allow him to leave this summer.
Sosa is on Spurs’ radar ahead of next season and now the north London club have been put on red alert after the Croatia international confirmed he is interested in a Premier League move.
Sportske Novosti have revealed that the left back is most likely to move on from the Bundesliga outfit should they suffer relegation to the second tier this season.
And the chances of that are high, with Stuttgart currently second bottom with just nine games to play, although they are only three points from safety.
But Sosa has admitted that ‘the time has come’ for him to take a new step in his career and with Spurs interested in the player, they could make their move in the coming weeks.
Would Sosa be a good signing for Spurs? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
Speaking to Sportske Novosti, Sosa said; “I can confirm that I have a lot of interest. That is a fact.
“A lot of people are calling me. The summer transfer window is approaching. We know that negotiations start early, usually in April. And that’s in less than a month.
“I can say that the time has come for me to take a new step in my career.”
Antonio Conte currently has Sergio Reguilon and Ryan Sessegnon as his left wing-back options, with both players producing some good displays for Spurs this season.
But the Italian manager knows he needs significant reinforcements if Spurs are to genuinely challenge for something next season and according to BILD , Sosa is seen as a worthy addition at the club.
The 24-year-old has made 75 appearances for Stuttgart since joining them in 2018, while he has also recently broken into Croatia’s national team, with five appearances in 2021.
Sosa has received high praise for his performances from the left side of the pitch and has even been compared to David Beckham for his crossing abilities.
And it seems as though he would be keen on a move to England’s top flight, which has handed Spurs a major advantage should they wish to pursue him.
Sosa said: “(The Premier League) I would say is by far the strongest league and it is clear that the goal of every footballer is to play in the strongest leagues in the world.
“Definitely, I have a great desire to play in the Premiership. I can also tell you that I was very, very close to leaving last winter.
“However, the club decided not to let me go. But I got a promise. And it reads; ‘if I get a satisfactory offer in the summer, I can leave’.
“We agreed to find the best solution together. But I say, I’m still in Stuttgart, we’ll see what opens in the summer.”
