Tottenham eye summer move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi but Chelsea have clause

Tottenham are interested in signing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi this summer.

Spurs have been tracking the 22-year-old since he left Chelsea to join the south Londoners for £18m in 2021.

The interest comes amid doubts over Davinson Sanchez’s future and with Clement Lenglet’s loan spell from Barcelona set to end in the summer.

Chelsea are not known to have a buyback clause for Guehi but do have a sizeable sell-on clause and a matching option that they can leverage should they want to enter the race.

However, the England international is not expecting his former club to make a move after seeing them sign Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly in the last six months.

The Three Lions defender is regarded as a big part of Patrick Vieira’s plans at Selhurst Park and won’t come cheaply.

He is, however, easier to sign than Spurs’s other target Josko Gvardiol who, after recently renewing his deal with RB Leipzig, could become the world’s first £100m defender.

Guehi’s current deal expires in June 2026, giving Palace some freedom to reject offers that fall short of their valuation.
