Tottenham captain Harry Kane told he has better chance of winning trophies with Newcastle United

Harry Kane would have a better chance of finally lifting silverware with Newcastle United than if he sees out his career with Tottenham. That is the view of former Premier League manager Neil Warnock, although he fears the England captain would command a price tag in the region of £250 million.

Eddie Howe's side currently sit third in the table following a stunning start to the season, and have now booked their place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals with victory over Leicester City. Goals from Dan Burn and Joelinton earned the hosts a deserved 2-0 victory in front of a jubilant sellout St James' Park crowd.

In contrast, Tottenham have endured a mixed start to the campaign as questions linger over Antonio Conte's future with the club. The Magpies secured a 2-1 away victory against Spurs in October, and currently sit two points clear of their top-four rivals.

Kane's future has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in recent seasons, with Manchester City linked before deciding to sign Erling Haaland. The 29-year-old will enter the final year of his contract this summer, and this could prompt renewed talk over whether he will stay with Tottenham.

Kane is two goals away from becoming the club's all-time record goalscorer, but has so far not lifted any trophies despite a couple of near misses. Warnock was asked whether the marksman would now be more likely to win silverware if he made the move to Tyneside.

He told talkSPORT: "Yes, you’re probably right, especially with the future coming up. I tipped them [Newcastle] in pre-season to finish in the top four, and everybody thought I was going round the twist.

“But they’ve just sustained that. The defensive situation the other night is as good as I’ve seen, against a very good Arsenal side. I always thought Manchester City, if they could get Kane when that came up last year, but look what they’ve done instead. I mean wow, [Erling] Haaland is unbelievable isn’t he?

“But if they could get Kane, Newcastle, that would be fantastic, but imagine dealing with Daniel Levy about Kane. They’d want £250million wouldn’t they?”
