A toddler has been left with a bad burn after she sat on a blisteringly hot tricycle during the heatwave.
Mum Louise Blundell, 41, had been playing with her daughter Harriet, aged 16 months, when Harriet had a deep red mark on her leg.
The incident occurred when temperatures peaked at 26C, and they are only set to rise further next week, GrimsbyLive reports.
Louise had been in the back garden with Harriet at around 3 o' clock in the afternoon when she placed her onto a blue tricycle with a plastic seat.
Some hours later Louise saw the burn mark, which was some three inches long, on her daughter's right leg.
Louise, an education advisor, said: "I changed her nappy after dinner and saw this deep red mark.
"Later in the evening we had a cold bath and the mark went from red to white.
"I don't want people's children to suffer [like this]. Play equipment is hotter than you think.
"I thought it was fine but I realised there's a lasting affect from the sun."
Louise, who also lives with partner Chris Newman, 42, and son James, three, said her daughter didn't seem to be bothered by the burn.
She added the mark is now fading after applying cream to soothe the area.
