Susan Hall, who is in the last three to be Tory candidate for mayor, has some controversial views.
She’s been a Donald Trump fan, encouraging him to “wipe the smile off” Mayor Sadiq Khan’s face by winning the 2020 US election. When UKIP’s Suzanne Evans tweeted her agreement, Hall replied: “we agree on most things”. The mayor and the then president had a long running feud in which Khan called Trump “ignorant”.
Come on Donald Trump- make sure you win and wipe the smile of this man’s face @realDonaldTrump @SebGorka https://t.co/6yqflClQhA

Hall has been criticised for saying the black community has “problems with crime” in City Hall last year. “Problems with crime within the Black community is something I have brought up constantly because we need to assist those communities; the problem is, the minute we do we are accused of being racist or as near as damn being racist” she said. At the time, Emmanuelle Andrews, of pressure group Liberty, told the Independent: “It is no wonder that communities of colour have less trust in the police when people in power feel they can openly express such offensive attitudes”.
Hall also called anti-racism protesters who were out in Brixton “worrying” in a tweet, and liked another tweet that labelled a picture of Met police officers taking the knee as “embarrassing”.
On Tuesday, we wrote how Hall had previously had a swipe at reality TV star Gemma Collins, calling her a “stupid fat blonde woman”. “OMG this fat woman Gemma is ghastly, really ghastly,” Hall tweeted, “however watching her squeal may be funny”.
Hall was shortlisted by the Conservative party lsat weekend as one of the final three candidates who could face Sadiq Khan in the next London mayoral election. She will go up against Daniel Korski, a former political advisor, and Mozammel Hossain, a barrister, in the fight to be the official Tory candidate.
We contacted Hall to ask if she regrets backing Trump now that he’s in legal trouble, but got no reply.
