The highest-grossing movie of all time about dogs is The Secret Life of Pets, a 2016 animated film about the lives of pets when their owners are not around with a variety of dog characters, Max, a Jack Russell terrier played by Louis CK, causing chaos.
The American computer-animated comedy film, produced by Illumination Entertainment and distributed by Universal Pictures., grossed a whopping $875,457,937 in the box.
And along with the next nine top ranking films about dogs, the public have helped the golden 10 gross an incredible $2.07 BILLION at the box office in ticket sales alone - that's before any revenue was earned from re-releases, home video sales, other forms of distribution and of course the all-important merch.

- Lassie: Lassie is a long-running film and television franchise about a collie and her adventures. The first Lassie film was released in 1943 and the franchise has continued to this day. The 1994 film "Lassie" grossed $7,939,000 in the box office.
- Benji: Benji is a film franchise about a mischievous mixed-breed dog and his adventures. The first Benji film was released in 1974 and the franchise has continued to this day. The film grossed $45,300,000 in the box office.
101 Dalmations: The 1996 live-action film based on the classic animated film of the same name. The film tells the story of Pongo and Perdita, two Dalmatians who try to rescue their puppies from the clutches of the evil Cruella de Vil. The film grossed $320,683,628 in the box office.
- Bolt: Bolt is a 2008 animated film about a dog that believes he has superpowers. The film features a white German Shepherd as the titular character. The film grossed $314,027,157 in the box office.
- A Dog's Purpose: A Dog's Purpose is a 2017 film about a dog that is reincarnated and discovers the purpose of his existence. The film features a variety of dog characters, including a Labrador Retriever and a Cocker Spaniel. The film grossed $205,765,745 in the box office.
