Tommy Fury calls out Jake Paul after scrapping Darren Till fight over threat of ‘stupid MMA tactics’

With Tommy Fury no longer fighting Darren Till, he’s turning to a familiar foe in hopes of meeting in the ring once again.

Fury, the half-brother of heavyweight boxing star Tyson Fury, recently pulled out of his scheduled boxing match with Till after the former UFC title challenger threatened to use a head kick in their boxing match if he knew he was losing in the later rounds. Since the threat didn’t sit well with Fury, even if it might’ve not been serious, he withdrew from the fight.

“I can’t believe I’m writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on January 18th, 2025,” Fury wrote on social media. “For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is losing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.”

So what’s next for Fury? That remains to be seen, but the idea of a rematch with Jake Paul apparently sounds good to him. He made the callout in a video on social media.

“I just woke up and seen Logan Paul talk on his podcast yet again about how I don’t want to fight Jake and that I’m running scared. I’ve seen Jake tweeting the other day about how he offered me X, Y and Z on Netflix. I just want to say that no one’s running from that fight,” Fury said. “I beat you once already. I handed you your first loss. The minute you stepped up and fought a real boxer, you lost fair and square. I can give you a second loss, that’s not a problem, but let’s talk some serious numbers. If you want to get in touch, you know where I am.”

In response, Paul had this to say on X:

“What absolute muppet,” Paul wrote. “Buddy you just pulled out of a fight for the 3rd time. You have ZERO credibility.

“I offered you $8M dollars and you ran away from it. And now you got dumped by Molly, getting sued by DAZN and still can’t call a shot without your dad.

“GTFOH”

The lone defeat of Paul’s professional boxing career was the split decision to Fury in February 2023. Fury was the first true boxer Paul had faced up to that point as he’d only competed against influencers and former MMA fighters – Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva – before then.

Since then, Paul has fought and defeated a couple of unknown boxers, Nate Diaz, Mike Perry, and most recently 58-year-old Mike Tyson in a blockbuster event last month that streamed on Netflix. The legitimacy of the Tyson fight came into question after Paul admitted that he went easy on Tyson because of his age.
