Tom’s Guide Sleep Awards 2025: Best Pillow for Stomach Sleepers

The image shows a dark haired woman sleeping on her side on a white pillow in a blue bedroom. There's a blue Tom's Guide Sleep Awards 2025 badge over the top of the image.

This award could not have gone to any other pillow than the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud. When it comes to delivering for stomach sleepers, we found in our Tempur-Pedic Tempur Cloud pillow review that it offered exceptional pressure relief, prevented neck strains and shoulder aches and had just the right loft.

Investing in one of the best pillows for your sleep styles is one of the most important steps to a comfortable and pain free night's sleep. And while picking a pillow might seem like a simple task, but it's essential to select one that supports your sleep style.

Here, we're going to be diving into why the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud won the award for the best Best Pillow for Stomach Sleepers in our Tom's Guide Sleep Awards, so keep reading to find out more about one of our favorite pillows.

Meet the Best Pillow for Stomach Sleepers

The Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud is designed to offer a soft, pressure-relieving sleep surface that keeps your neck and spine in neutral alignment, and we awarded it 4 out of 5 stars thanks to how well it suits stomach sleepers.

Why? Well, when you're sleeping on your stomach, a pillow that's too tall can push the neck upwards and cause aches and pains. But the Tempur-Cloud pillow is a low-loft pillow measuring just 5 inches, meaning that it is flatter to prevent that upwards tilt of the neck while you sleep.

Our lead tester, who mainly sleeps on her stomach, trialled this pillow for four weeks and found that the Tempur-Cloud certainly delivered on this front.

Aside from its shape and size, the Tempur-Cloud is made from a single block of the brand's "extra-soft" Tempur material foam encased in a hypoallergenic polyester knit cover. Known for it's slow-moving, pressure-relieving qualities, the idea is that this type of foam will contour to your head and neck and prevent pressure from building.

The softness of Tempur material is also important; in a pillow for stomach sleepers, anything too firm has the potential to push your neck upwards into an uncomfortable position, just like a pillow that's too tall.

After sleeping on the Tempur-Cloud, our reviewer reported its cushioning foam delivered ideal support and pressure relief in a stomach sleeping position, and even better, she didn't experience any neck discomfort.

While the Tempur-Cloud came out on top, a close contender was the Sleep Number NaturalFit Ultimate. However, as well as being a much more expensive pillow (starting at $149.99 compared to the Tempur-Cloud which starts at $79) we also found that this Sleep Number pillow frequently lost its shape during the night, whereas the Tempur-Cloud only needed occasional fluffing to remove indentations to the foam.

While it is an almost-perfect pillow for stomach sleepers, the Tempur-Cloud is an all-foam pillow and that foam comes in the form of a slab, rather than shredded (which some brands opt for to improve air flow).

Slow moving foams in particular can retain heat, and we found that was the case when our tester experienced a fever during the night. While the Tempur-Cloud otherwise slept neutral, temperature-wise, hot sleepers might want to consider the $20 cooling cover upgrade or a dedicated cooling pillow.
