Tom Hanks has called himself an 'idiot' for not taking care of his diet and weight before his type 2 diabetes diagnosis.

The Hollywood actor, 65, first announced his diabetes diagnosis back in 2013 during an interview on the Late Show with David Letterman.

At the time, the Forrest Gump star said: "I went to the doctor, and he said, 'You know those high blood sugar numbers you've been dealing with since you were 36? Well, you've graduated. You've got type 2 diabetes, young man'."
