Harry Potter star Tom Felton opened up about his struggles with substance abuse as well as his three stints in rehab.
The 35-year-old confessed his drinking got so bad that his manager, then-girlfriend, as well as his agents, staged an intervention.
In his book Beyond The Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard, he shared how he 'craved normality' and abused alcohol in his mid-to-late 20s.
"The alcohol, though, wasn't the problem. It was the symptom. The problem was deeper," he said.
Tom, who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, spent a lot of his time in dive bars in Los Angeles.
"I went from being not particularly interested to regularly having a few pints a day before the sun had even gone down, and a shot of whiskey to go with each of them," he wrote.
The actor confessed his drinking got to the point that his friends and manager intervened and demanded he gets help.
They were concerned about his drinking as well as his behaviour.
A message he received from his lawyer 'hit the hardest' and ended up making him want to get help.
"My lawyer, whom I'd barely ever met face to face, spoke with quiet honesty," he wrote in an excerpt shared by People.
"'Tom,' he said, 'I don't know you very well, but you seem like a nice guy. All I want to tell you is that this is the seventeenth intervention I've been to in my career. Eleven of them are now dead. Don't be the twelfth.'"
The star checked into a rehab facility but left 24 hours later. He then went to another facility but ended up getting kicked out when he was found in a girl's room.
He was okay for some time but, after a few years, he felt the 'numbness return' and went to rehab for the third time.

In the same memoir, Tom opened up about the spark between him and his co-star Emma Watson.
There has always been speculation about a romance between the two and he revealed there 'most definitely' was something there.
Tom confessed he “always had a secret love for Emma, though not perhaps in the way that people might want to hear”.
He went on: “That isn’t to say that there’s never been a spark between us. There most definitely has, only at different times."
