POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a toilet attendant was assaulted in Troon.
The incident happened around 1.30pm on Monday near a bus stop on North Shore Road in the Ayrshire town, after an incident within nearby public toilets on the same street.
The 71-year-old male attendant challenged three men who were in a cubicle in the toilets and asked them to leave.
The men then followed the attendant, pushing him before kicking and striking him to the body.
They are described as being white and all of skinny build. All are believed to have been wearing hoodies and one had a puffer jacket on top.
One had a balaclava, or something similar, on their face, police said.
Inspector Ian McColl said: “This was a distressing incident for the man involved and we are continuing with extensive enquiries to identify the others involved.
“We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam or private CCTV from the area to get in touch.
“Two passing cyclists also came to the man’s aid but left before giving their details. If this was you please get in touch as you may be able to help with our investigation.
“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 2048 of 28 August, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
