The mum of a toddler who spent weeks in hospital vomiting almost every day was found to have been secretly "poisoning" her with excessive amounts of salt.
The "beautiful and happy" 13-month-old girl was put in "regular and repeated distress" by her mother, who has been jailed for more than four years after pleading guilty to child cruelty and two counts of administering a noxious substance with intent to injure.
The woman - who cannot be named for legal reasons - was jailed for her shocking and largely unexplained crimes at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday.
