Chelsea's goalkeeper issues seem to have been swept under the carpet during the January transfer window amid Todd Boehly's £150million winter spending. The Blues are close to securing their sixth signing of the month in Noni Madueke with talks in an advanced stage and are expected to continue before the window closes.
Mykhailo Mudryk and Joao Felix are the two standout reinforcements this month, with the latter arriving on a short-term loan from Atletico Madrid. Madueke's arrival is expected to be the final attacking reinforcement of the window and a new midfielder is now the priority to bolster.
However, one position that has not been improved since 2020 is in goal. Edouard Mendy arrived from Rennes under Frank Lampard and was originally the No. 1 at Stamford Bridge. However, Kepa Arrizabalaga has restored his place in between the sticks under Graham Potter.
