Titans vs. Jaguars: 5 things to know for Week 14

The Tennessee Titans are gearing up for an AFC South matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14.

The Jaguars are one of the few teams in the league that have had a worse season than the Titans. The Jaguars enter this game with a 2-10 record, while the Titans are 3-9.

According to BetMGM, the Titans are favored by 3.5 points at home. The over/under is set at 40.5 points.

Now, let’s identify five things to know ahead of this matchup.

The Titans are finally favored again

The Titans are favored for the second time in 2024. Yes, that’s correct- it’s Week 14 and the Titans have only been favored one other time this season.

The last time the Titans were favored was against the Patriots. The Titans won that game, so perhaps that’s a good sign for this weekend. Can the Titans get their fourth win of the season against a bad team?

The Titans have a 35-24 lead in the all-time series with the Jags. The Titans won 11 of 14 games in the series from 2015-21.

Historically, the Titans have had no problem beating the Jags even during their best seasons. Will that stay the same with a new coaching staff in Nashville? Titans fans will not be happy with Brian Callahan if he can’t beat Jacksonville.

Trevor Lawrence looks doubtful for this game

Jeremy Reper-USA TODAY Sports

Trevor Lawrence suffered a violent cheap shot at the hands of Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair in Week 13. The QB sustained a concussion and his status for Week 14 is unknown.

However, the Jags recently added QB John Wolford to the roster which could be a bad sign for Lawrence. Even if the QB passes concussion protocol, he will likely not be at 100%.

This game could have draft implications

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Jaguars would have the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft if the season ended today. Meanwhile, the Titans would have the No. 6 pick.

If the Jaguars win, the Titans would would go up the draft board while the Jags would go down. Those few spots could be of vital importance, especially if the Titans want a QB. This is a game we could look back on as extremely meaningful.

Have either of these teams quit?

Neither of these teams has any postseason hopes. Both teams have been embarrassed multiple times this season and are likely looking toward 2025 already.

It will be interesting to see which team comes ready to play and if either team looks checked out. Both coaches’ jobs could be in danger after this season, and nothing gets you fired quicker than looking uninspired against your biggest rival.
