The Tennessee Titans and Harold Landry have reportedly struck a deal on a contract extension that will keep the outside linebacker in the two-tone blue for the long haul.
According to multiple reports, Landry and the Titans have agreed on a five-year deal worth $87.5 million, with $52.5 million guaranteed.
The deal will pay Landry $17.5 million annually, making him the highest-paid player in Tennessee’s outside linebacker’s room, surpassing Bud Dupree’s deal, both in terms of annual average and total value.
According to Over the Cap, Landry’s contract extension places him in the top 10 of the highest-paid edge rushers, landing him at No. 9 in terms of annual average and total value.
What will be interesting to see is the annual breakdown of the contract. The Titans could use some cap relief this offseason, as they enter it $7.8 million over. One would assume the first-year cap hit on Landry’s deal will be team-friendly to give the Titans some room to work with.
Landry had a career year in a contract campaign in 2021, tallying a career-high 12 sacks. He also played a key role in Tennessee’s revival in the pass-rush, and the defense overall.
With the former second-round pick and Boston College product now locked up for the foreseeable future, the Titans will be able to run it back with their vaunted front four that includes Landry, Jeffery Simmons, Bud Dupree, and Denico Autry.
