Titans’ Peter Skoronski among highest-graded 1st-round rookies in Week 1

Tennessee Titans left guard Peter Skoronski had just about as good a debut as one could have hoped for in the team’s Week 1 loss against the New Orleans Saints.

Skoronski looked the part of someone who belonged, as head coach Mike Vrabel said, and while he was credited with giving up a sack, that was the only pressure he surrendered in the game.

When it was all said and done, the 2023 first-round pick had a pass-blocking grade of 74.2, a run-blocking grade of 80.1, and an overall grade of 81.3, per Pro Football Focus.

The run-blocking and overall grades were tops on the team, and the pass-blocking grade was third-best among the Titans’ starting offensive linemen.

Skoronski’s overall grade was the third-best mark among this year’s first-round picks, according to PFF. Only Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter (92.1) and Houston Texans edge rusher Will Anderson (83.1) posted better grades in their NFL debuts.

After all the issues the Titans have had with drafting offensive linemen in recent years, it’s nice to see one of them finally get off to a positive start. Hopefully Skoronski can keep it up and become the long-term answer Tennessee was hoping he’d be when they drafted him back in April.
