As the Tennessee Titans continue to purge the coaching staff of former head coach Mike Vrabel after the hiring of new head coach Brian Callahan, it appears the team isn’t ready to part with everyone.
According to Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky, Tennessee is holding on to defensive coordinator Shane Bowen for now as the team looks at outside candidates for the job.
And the Titans have reportedly begun that process, with the team requesting to interview Baltimore Ravens defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson.
Clearly there is at least some interest on Callahan’s part to keep Bowen, who routinely had success against his Cincinnati Bengals offense over the last three seasons.
Since taking over the job in 2021, Bowen’s defenses held the Bengals’ potent offenses to 14 points per contest, including just three in Tennessee’s 2023 matchup versus Cincinnati.
Bowen has received a pair of defensive coordinator interviews elsewhere this offseason, with the Titans coach interviewing for the defensive coordinator vacancies of the New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars.
