Titans’ Harold Landry suffered torn ACL in practice

The Tennessee Titans were reportedly dealt a huge blow on Wednesday, as outside linebacker Harold Landry tore his ACL, which will end his 2022 campaign before it starts.

The news comes from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who reports that the injury occurred during practice on Wednesday.

There is no sugar-coating how awful this is.

Landrywas signed to a five-year, $87.5 million contract extension earlier this offseason after serving as the team’s best pass-rusher in 2021, notching a career-high and team-high 12 sacks, playing a huge role in the team’s defensive revival.

Now the Titans will have enormous shoes to fill off the edge. The hope is that 2021 fourth-round pick, Rashad Weaver, can answer the bell and provide the relief this defense now needs.

Other players who could help to fill the void include Denico Autry and DeMarcus Walker, both of whom line up primarily on the line but have the ability to push outside. Tennessee also has Ola Adeniyi on the roster, and 2022 UDFA and preseason standout David Anenih on the practice squad.

Tennessee will also need more from fellow outside linebacker Bud Dupree, who had a rough first season in Nashville as he worked his way back from his own torn ACL suffered in 2020.
