The Tennessee Titans are reportedly expected to hold a free-agent visit with former No. 1 overall pick and San Francisco 49ers edge rusher Chase Young.
The news comes from Aaron Wilson of Click2Houston.com, who adds that Young will also visit with the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints.
Formerly a draft pick of the Washington Commanders, Young was dealt to the San Francisco 49ers prior to the trade deadline in 2023. He tallied 2.5 sacks in nine regular season contests with San Fran, and 7.5 sacks in total, matching his career-high.
But Young’s career has been a disappointment thus far, especially considering where he was drafted. Not only has he been plagued by injuries in two of his seasons in the NFL, he’s never posted the elite production that was expected from him, and there have also been questions about his effort
Those injury-plagued years are sandwiched in between campaigns in which he played in 15 and 16 games, though, and he’s finished with 7.5 sacks in both.
The Titans are in desperate need of defensive line help after Denico Autry took his talents to Houston. At only 24, Young would be a decent option to replace Autry if he can match that production, and he may come relatively cheap thanks to his past issues.
