Tinder sees huge spike in usage in World Cup host cities

  • International dating app activity has surged by nearly 50 per cent in World Cup host cities, according to internal data from Tinder .
  • Tinder reported a 47 per cent increase in usage among international users in host cities between 11-16 June, compared to the same period last year.
  • Overall, the US experienced over a 15 per cent rise in users, a 25 per cent increase in swipe activity, and almost a 60 per cent jump in matches.
  • Specific host cities saw significant spikes, including Monterrey, Mexico, with an 80 per cent increase, and Guadalajara, Mexico, with a 74 per cent rise in international user activity.
  • The influx of World Cup tourists has also fostered cultural exchanges, with Scottish fans going viral in Boston and European visitors sharing their reactions to American fast food.
