Timo Werner is reportedly ready to accept a huge pay cut in order to complete an escape from his torrid time at Chelsea.
Werner joined the Blues for £53million two years ago, but has struggled to settle into life at Stamford Bridge. He fell down the pecking order after the arrival of Romelu Lukaku and has even struggled to stamp his mark on the team since the Belgian's departure to Inter Milan.
That has left the German considering an exit before his third season with Chelsea even gets underway. Several sides are believed to be considering moves for the 26-year-old, including Juventus and even Premier League rivals Arsenal.
But another option has presented itself, and it appears that Werner is keen to take it up. According to BILD, Chelsea are now in talks with RB Leipzig as they search for an agreement over a potential loan deal with the option to buy.
Werner is said to be ready to return to the Bundesliga side where he experienced so much success. In order to push through the move, Werner will accept a 50 per cent pay cut from his current £275,000 per week salary.
Having starred for Leipzig over a four year spell from 2016, it is clear that he would be welcomed back with open arms. His former strike partner Youssef Poulson would certainly love to play alongside Werner once again.

"I hope he is coming back, he is a good player. We are a team that is trying to take the next step and develop into one of the biggest clubs in Europe. You need quality players for that. We formed a good partnership in the past," he said this week.
Werner himself has also hinted that he is ready to leave Chelsea in search of game-time. He has already admitted this summer that he must be playing more if he is to secure a place in the Germany squad for this winter's World Cup in Qatar.
“I could be happy everywhere. The most important thing is that I am happy. I am happy when I play and score goals. That’s the fact. That’s what I should take care of and other things will come,” he said earlier this month.
“The manager always has different ideas, different thoughts and what you need in different games. In many games I was not in his thoughts so I try to change that. It is not different to last season, it was the same when Romelu came. We had big, big competition. It’s still the same.
“At a big club like Chelsea you have that competition. In pre-season you can show that you want to play, that you are a guy who wants to be in the starting XI. That’s what I try. It is clear I want to play more and I should play more to be in good shape for the World Cup — and also to have a chance to play.”
