A TikTok creator known as Tyler (@tylerlimaroope) shared a video describing a months-long dispute with the Social Security Administration that began with a $1,500 debt notice and eventually grew to $8,000. Tyler, who has 479.9K followers on the platform, said the situation nearly cost him access to insurance that covers what he called his “million-dollar medication.”
In the video, posted with the caption “So what have you been up to? #fyp #spinalmuscularatrophy #comedy #storytime,” Tyler said he received a letter two months earlier stating he owed Social Security $1,500. When he called to ask why, he said a representative told him the amount was actually $4,000.
