Tim Walz's Biography Highlighted In Kamala Harris Campaign Video

Kamala Harris

Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign released a video on Tuesday featuring her newly announced running mate, Tim Walz, emphasizing his background and experiences. The video, narrated by Walz himself, showcases his military service and career as an educator.

In the video, Governor Walz shares insights into his upbringing, stating, 'My dad was in the Army, and with his encouragement, I joined the Army National Guard when I was 17. I served for 24 years. I used my GI benefits to go to college and become a public school teacher.' The footage includes images of Walz teaching in a classroom and coaching football.

Walz further elaborates on his teaching career, mentioning, 'I coached football and taught social studies for 20 years. And I tried to teach my students what small-town Nebraska taught me: respect, compromise, and service to the country.' His dedication to education and values are highlighted throughout the video.

The campaign has strategically emphasized Walz's rural roots and background. In a separate TikTok video released on the same day, the campaign drew a comparison between Walz and his GOP counterpart, Ohio Sen. JD Vance. The TikTok post showcases Walz in various settings, including his office, on a football field, and in a helicopter, underscoring the campaign's intention to leverage his biography in connecting with voters.

By showcasing Walz's military service, teaching career, and rural upbringing, the campaign aims to present a well-rounded picture of the vice presidential candidate and resonate with a diverse audience.
